At the core of every company is its culture. Company culture is a reflection of the company itself and everyone wants to be a part of a good company culture. Why might you need to check on your company’s culture? Company culture is not measured. Therefore you can’t get a report on it like you might get reports on expenses for example. If you aren’t periodically checking to see if your company’s culture is still as it’s supposed to be, then it could be lacking. Therefore, you need to STOP and CHECK your company’s culture.

What’s the employee turnover rate for this month?
People will come and go. However, companies with great culture tend to have lower turnover rates. If there are good reasons to stay, then people are less likely to leave. Build clear paths for growth in both employee development and advancement.

What’s the company viewed as?
You can define your company in a variety of ways. From the outside, potential candidates are going to look at your company and try to figure out who you are, not just what you do. If you have an award for best company to look at, that says something. What you post on social media talks about who you are as well. Additionally, company reviews from current employees speaks about the culture.

Can the people in your organization recite your core values?
At the heart of every company are the core values. We see it all too often where the core values are a sign on the wall, but not very many people within the organization really are living out these values. As part of your weekly meetings, have each person talk about how they lived out that value in the week prior. This will bring life and make the core values real.

Are job performances exceeding expectations or below standard?
Culture and job performance go hand in hand. If an employee’s performance is lacking, it’s probably because they aren’t happy at the workplace. If they are happy, then they are more motivated to excel at work. Always listen so that you can understand. So that you are able to align a person with their talents with activities that drive passion.
